The Definition of S.I.D.S.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the unexpected death of a baby less than one year of age. Officials make this decision after an autopsy, examining the area where the baby died and checking the baby's health records.
National and Georgia Statistics for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Approximately 2,500 infants die each year from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in the United States. In Georgia, 141 infants died in 2002.
